John Wood - Bulleen's First Settler

1837 - When Hoddle commenced a survey of land north of the Yarra at Heidelberg in preparation for land sales, John Wood who had been grazing sheep near the Plenty River looked for uninhabited land. He swam his flock across the river to the grassy river flats of Bulleen and became our District's first settler.
