PROCLAMATION OF CITY AND NOTICE OF FIRST MEETING OF THE COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF

DONCASTER TEMPLESTOWE

Municipal History

• 1856 Proclaimed a District (Templestowe Roads Board)
• 1875 Constituted as Shire of Bulleen
• 1890 The Doncaster Riding severed and created Shire of Doncaster.
• 1892 The remainder of Shire of Bulleen renamed Shire of Templestowe.
• 1915 The Shire of Templestowe was reunited with Shire of Doncaster as the Shire of Doncaster.
• 1926 The Shire was re-named Shire of Doncaster and Templestowe.
• 1967 Proclaimed a City.

Counselling with Manningham Council

DTHS Executive members are continually in discussion with Manningham Councillors and the Manningham Council staff about the best ways to maintain and improve the experience at Schramm Museum Cottage Complex for the public, as well as maintain the other historic linkages in our area.

Some of these issues relate to maintenance of the Schramm Cottage Museum Complex buildings.

Recently, our executive members have been intensively talking with council regarding the building of a Museum centre adjacent to the current complex to better serve the people of the are and beyond. 

Museum Guides - Any Sunday

One of the many crucial tasks that DTHS fulfils is to open the Schramm Cottage Museum Complex every Sunday for the public.

We also open for groups and individuals by appointment at other time depending on a special need and volunteer availability.

Museum Collection - Catalogue of Images - Free to the World

 Schramm Cottage, Atkins Cottage, the Finger Barn, the Tram replica etc etc.

Geoff Broome and Stephen Digby are cataloguing and photographing our complete Object Collection as fast as possible.

These records will be uploaded in bulk to Victorian Collections. In the meantime use the above Object Collection link to view the images.

Photo Collection - Free to the World

DTHS has a large photograph collection from a variety of sources.  We are dedicate to placing these online free to the world. 

Beverley McArthur is scanning the collection as fast as possible and Ken Smith is then adding descriptions to each photo to record its connections and significance.

Any photographs given to DTHS will be placed online as quickly as we can manage it.  If you can help in this task by sending us photos that are already scanned with accompanying information, please do so so that they are preserved for future generations.
