Our cricket club originated as the Doncaster Footballers Cricket Club, founded in 1949 by Pat Fromhold, George Knee, and Jack Carey. The club was formed for footballers that wanted a game of cricket with a club of their own. The club started remarkably with an outright win, which set the precedent for the rest of the season and years to come. Merely two years later, Doncaster won their first premiership in 1951, the first of many more achieved by the club. The club, later renamed to Doncaster Cricket Club, has had a proud history competing in the Box Hill Reporter District Cricket Association for over half a century. In that time Doncaster has won a total of 15 premierships, 17 runners up and One tie. Our most recent premiership win was in 2010/11 by the Third XI at the time in the C1 division.
In addition to the Doncasters ’never say die’ competitive reputation on the field, the club has always had a great social life. Enhanced by the many great characters involved with the club, the regular social events held have always encouraged and ensured a great time, which attracts new social and playing members along and aids in raising vital funds for the club.
Currently Doncaster Cricket Club boasts 4 senior teams and 4 junior sides. The club also proudly fields a veteran teams. The veteran sides signify the many great, proud, and committed players that have represented the club in the past who are eager to continue to contribute to our proud club.
Our clubrooms are located at Doncaster Recreational Reserve, regarded by many as one of the excellent grounds in the competition to play cricket. With the clubs second ground just down the road it’s not too hard to miss the action provided by the many players and supporters of Doncaster Cricket Club.
