Doncaster Uniting Church (formerly Presbyterian)

20 WESTFIELD DR, DONCASTER

The Westfield Drive site began as a small timber church which was relocated from North Balwyn to the bottom of Westfield Drive in 1969.
Two years later (1971) The first stage of the brick building at 20 Westfield Drive was completed.  Two extensions followed, one in 1979 and the final one in about 1990 when the manse next door was also completed.

The main Church Centre Space consists of an entrance foyer that leads into a worship centre (accommodates about 250 people – 188 sq. m) and a multiple purpose hall with parquetry floor of similar size. There are meeting room (air-conditioned), three  3 offices and an accompanying Library/meeting space (18 sq. m). The site has fully accessible access including toilets (female, male and 1 disability) and an expansive kitchen. There is also a Basement space (78 sq. m) mainly used by groups of young children.

The spaces have been utilised throughout the years by many groups and activities including trivia nights, dances, weddings, meetings, worship, funerals, luncheons and exercise classes.

The Westfield Drive site gets utilised not only by the Manningham Uniting Church congregation for services and the social/fellowship/craft groups, but also by the Loving Church of Melbourne (Korean congregation of the UC).

The Westfield Drive site (carpark, church building and manse building) was sold to Scentre Group (Doncaster Shoppingtown) in October 2017 and now operates with Manningham Uniting Church under a Leased arrangement (initially for 18 months).   MUCs length of occupancy at this site is uncertain.  Once the building project is completed, Manningham Uniting Church will relocate the activities and services from this site to the Templestowe site.
