Researching the description, historical context and use of museum objects

Many of our museum objects have only brief descriptions which cometimes even lack the correct terminology.

Most lack any detailed description of their use in a historical setting.

Please consider assisting with this process by volunteering for offsite research - i.e. you do this work whenever you have time in the comfort of your own home.

Then we give you a link to images of 5 objects.

You research what they, when and how they were used etc. and type this (with your references) on your computer.

When you are finished, send us the text for inclusion in the object description database as well as on our website, and sometimes in our newsletter.

For example:

Carpet sweeper

That's it folk !  That's all we have....  Surely we can do better with a bit of research ???

When was it used ?  How did it work ?  What replaced it ?? etc etc
