The land of Birrarung Park was subject to flooding and was used for dairy farming purposes until about the 1960’s. For example, a dairy farm named Chatsworth was owned by Mr Hodgson.
During the 1960’s and 1970’s, Henderson Seeds occupied a large area in the vicinity of the present park.
