1833 Major Newman arrived in Melbourne. Later went to Pontville.

  • 1838 Wood started sheep station at Bulleen. J. Anderson arrived in Warrandyte. 
  • 1841 Unwin's special survey. 
  • 1842 First Presbyterian church service held. 
  • 1845 Unwin's Estate reissued to Atkinson and named Carlton Estate. 
  • 1847 First school in the area opened near Heidelberg Bridge. 
  • 1850 Joseph Pickering arrived in Doncaster. 
  • 1851 Gold discovered at Warrandyte. 
  • 1852 John Robert Wilson settled in Doncaster. 
  • 1853 Tom Petty and Gottlieb Thiele arrived. 
  • 1854 Wilson built Doncaster Arms Hotel. 
  • 1856 First services held by Lutheran and Church of England. 
  • 1856? Templestowe and District Roads Board formed.
    The earliest reference I can find in Trove to the Templestowe District Road Board is dated 9 March 1857. The board was then calling for tenders for construction of a stretch of road. The Board must have been formed prior to that. See http://nla.gov.au/nla.news-page192443  (Kay Mack, April 2017)
